Description:
This ground-hugging succulent from the High Drakensberg of South Africa might be described as "cute" by some in the gardening community. However, I prefer to think of it as "nifty." Little rosettes of green leaves recall Sedum, but the white flowers are unusually dense and compact on very short stalks. As alpine plants go, it's quite easy to grow, and vigorous: even we haven't managed to kill it yet. Unlike a lot of South African succulents itseems to do fine outdoors in the Northwest, enduring all our winter rain without problems. Just don't forget to give it the occasional drink in summer.
