Page 5 - Gila National Forest

The Gila Wilderness is a vast, rugged, forested area of southwestern New Mexico riddled with canyons, high mountains and other cool things like abandoned mining towns, Native American ruins, hot springs and, of course, interesting plants, most of which I did not take pictures of because it was dark.

Ponderosa Pine.

These rock formations are on the Middle Fork of the Gila.  Notice that plant (probably a juniper) on the top of that rock.  It was really cold at the bottom of this canyon.

An Agave parryi flower Christmas tree in the Gila Cliff Dwellings visitor center.  It grows in several areas south and east of (and perhaps in) the wilderness.
